Greetings, fellow Rotarians, as always I hope this message finds you well. If you're like me, you've been enjoying the cooler weather and the feeling of fall in the air.  September is Basic Education and Literacy Month at Rotary, and this year that topic is on my mind more than ever as my son enters the 7th grade. School Districts across the state are mixed in what back to school looks like in each community. Some schools are virtual, while others are in-person or a combination of both. Even more than ever, our kids need support as they face new obstacles with their education. I encourage all of our clubs to take a fresh look at ways in which we may need to adapt traditional projects to fit the unique challenges now present.

Additionally, I want to remind the clubs that we have a unique opportunity to join the Virtual Rotary Zone Summit on October 10th. Featured speakers will be RI President-Elect Shekhar Mehta and Past RI President Ian Riseley.  I am incredibly excited about Jenny Stotts, as I enjoyed hearing from her earlier this year in San Diego at the International Assembly. Jenny's presentation on "Rotary Happy" is an inspiring story about making Rotary your own and a frank discussion on what to do if your Rotary experience isn't as expected. I hope you will consider joining us along with hundreds of Rotarians across over 30 districts.  Registration information is on the zone website: https://www.rizones30-31.org/institute/rotary-virtual-summit-2020/.

Finally, as I close out, I'd like to thank Ponca City Rotary for having me as part of their virtual officer installation earlier this month, along with Exchange OKC Rotary, where I also spoke virtually at their weekly club meeting. If you are meeting online or considering meeting online, please invite me for a virtual club visit.

Thanks,
Angela Rickman
