August is Membership and New Club Development Month across Rotary International - a time to celebrate the people who make Rotary possible and to share the incredible impact our clubs have throughout our communities. Every new member brings fresh ideas, new skills, and unique experiences that strengthen our ability to serve others.
Membership is more than growing our numbers. It's about building welcoming clubs where friendships flourish, leaders develop, and service creates lasting change. Whether someone has been a Rotarian for thirty years or thirty days, every member plays an important role in advancing Rotary's mission of Service Above Self.
As we settle into the new Rotary year, August provides an opportunity to invite others to experience Rotary firsthand. Every conversation, service project, and club meeting has the potential to inspire someone to become part of something bigger than themselves.

The Rotary Club of Enid is partnering with the Enid News & Eagle to help celebrate public art during Public Art Quest, taking place from 5–7 p.m. on Friday, August 7, as part of Main Street Enid's First Friday festivities. Visitors can explore the historic Ruth Monro Augur murals inside the Garfield County Courthouse, view the new Jailhouse Art Gallery featuring artwork by Ponca Tribe members Burgess and Paladine Roye, create their own artwork during the Enid Public Library's "Paint! Come & Go" event, meet local artists Kelly and Ty Tompkins, and snap a selfie at the popular "I Love Enid" mural for a chance to win prizes. Free copies of the newly published Enid Public Art Guide, showcasing more than 100 public art installations throughout the city, will also be available, encouraging residents and visitors alike to discover the vibrant creativity that makes Enid a unique destination.
RYLA was a blast! From leadership and teamwork to new friendships and unforgettable memories, it was an incredible weekend for our young leaders.

District Training Assembly & District Leadership Academy
District Training Assembly – August 15 | Weatherford, Oklahoma
If you were unable to attend one of this summer's District Training Assemblies in Midwest City or Ponca City, there's still one more opportunity to prepare for a successful Rotary year. Join us on Saturday, August 15, in Weatherford for a practical, hands-on training experience designed to equip club leaders with the knowledge, resources, and connections they need to thrive.
Training sessions are tailored for Club Presidents, Presidents-Elect, Secretaries, Treasurers, and Chairs or Co-Chairs of Membership, Public Image, and The Rotary Foundation. Whether you're new to your role or an experienced leader, you'll leave with valuable insights, best practices, and new relationships that will strengthen both your leadership and your club.
Take your Rotary leadership to the next level by applying for the District Leadership Academy, a seven-month online leadership development program beginning September 1. Participants will explore topics including goal setting, member engagement, leadership development, and digital club administration while connecting with Rotarians from across the region.
The Academy is open to members of Districts 5750 and 6110, and Rotarians from other districts are also welcome to apply. Applications close August 15, and space is limited.

The Rotary Club of Del City Club Update
The Rotary Club of Del City has had an active and productive start to the Rotary year. Following a successful Star Wars-themed fundraiser in May, the club was able to double the number of students it sponsored to RYLA while continuing to invest in local service projects, including beautifying the Interstate 40 eastbound Sunnylane exit and maintaining the Rotary sign. Charter member Don Vick, celebrating 50 years in Rotary, also represented the club in the RYLA Chili Cook-Off. Looking ahead, the club will host a member appreciation ice cream social at Scoop House, upgrade Del City Rotary Park through a recently awarded grant, hand out popsicles to students after Epperly Heights Elementary's Meet the Teacher event, complete its Rotary Central goals, and continue its monthly Chisholm Trail health walks and community history presentations. Through strong community partnerships and a "Stone Soup" approach to service, the Del City Rotary Club continues to make a meaningful impact while building fellowship and having fun.

A great day at the District 5750 RYLA Chili Cook-Off!
Congratulations to The Ponca City Trailblazers Rotary Club's own Scott Haywood for taking home 1st Place with his award-winning chili! It was a fantastic day of fellowship, friendly competition, and supporting the incredible students participating in RYLA.

The Rotary Club of the Original Mile recently hosted its first social event at Arrowhead Archery Pro Shop, where approximately 20 members and guests gathered for an evening of fellowship, learning, and fun. We were honored to welcome Anita Keith from Midwest City High School, who shared valuable insights on helping students successfully transition from high school to the workforce, trade school, military service, or college. Her presentation sparked thoughtful conversations about preparing young people for the opportunities ahead.
A heartfelt thank you to Jeff and Gayle Steele, who proudly own and operate Arrowhead Archery Pro Shop, for graciously hosting our gathering and making everyone feel welcome. We also extend our appreciation to Casa Juanito for providing a delicious meal that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. From great conversations and friendly archery competition to building new friendships, our first social event was a wonderful reminder that Rotary is about serving others while building lasting connections. We look forward to many more opportunities to connect, serve, and grow together.
Stillwater Frontier Rotary Hosts Oklahoma Gubernatorial Candidate Series
Throughout July, The Rotary Club of Stillwater Frontier welcomed all three major candidates for Governor of Oklahoma during consecutive weekly meetings. Former State Senator Mike Mazzei, Attorney General Gentner Drummond, and House Democratic Leader Cyndi Munson each shared their backgrounds, priorities, and perspectives on the future of Oklahoma while engaging in thoughtful discussion with members and guests.
As a nonpartisan service organization, Rotary is committed to fostering informed communities by providing opportunities for respectful dialogue and the open exchange of ideas. By hosting each candidate, Stillwater Frontier Rotary created a forum where attendees could hear directly from those seeking public office, ask questions, and gain a broader understanding of the issues facing our state. The series exemplified Rotary's commitment to civic engagement, respectful conversation, and informed leadership. South Oklahoma City Rotary Kicks Off Buck$ for Bikes Project
District leaders joined club members for the kickoff, including District Governor Nominee James “Chili”McQuillar and District Governor Elect Jamie Murphy-Crowe. The project is another great example of Rotarians working alongside community organizations to create a meaningful local impact.

As Oklahoma celebrates the 100th anniversary of Route 66, The Rotary Club of Edmond is helping preserve and celebrate the Mother Road right here at home. In July, club members took part in an Adopt-A-Street cleanup along Route 66, demonstrating that Service Above Self can be as simple, and meaningful, as keeping a historic stretch of our community clean and welcoming for residents and visitors.
That spirit of service continues August 29–30 as Rotarians volunteer at Edmond’s inaugural Route 66 Beach Festival at Arcadia Lake, part of Oklahoma’s Route 66 Centennial celebration. From caring for the roadway to supporting a community event that brings people together, the Rotary Club of Edmond is helping ensure our corner of Route 66 enters its next century stronger, more vibrant, and more connected than ever.
