"The foundation upon which Rotary is built is friendship; on no less firm foundation could it have stood." - Paul P. Harris
Let's Celebrate the 2022-2023 Rotary year together! Join us on May 19, 2023, at the Oklahoma History Center.
My year as your district governor is coming to a close on June 30th so I have started the downhill slide of my year and I am in the mood to CELEBRATE! Therefore, I want to invite my fellow Rotarians to join me in fun, food, fellowship, and friendship on May 19th. My heart is happy at the thought of a room full of Rotarians enjoying being Rotarians!
My focus this year has been togetherness and teamwork and unity and harmony has been the goal in getting us all back together after Covid. Let's have some fun after this rebuilding year as we are rebounding stronger than ever.
Our District Celebration will be packed with fun and you can expect:
Games with a purpose such as Putt Putt for Polio and Corn Holio for Polio
Recognition of all of our outstanding clubs and their projects.
Photo booth, music, a great dinner, and a cash bar
Recognition of our Foundation's supporters
Recognition of our club and district leaders
And finally, each club will be asked to select a member in their club who should be recognized with a "Service Above Self" award.
What a night! Please register now and we'll see you on May 19th!
I have continued to be busy with club visits and fundraisers, attended Mid-America President Elect Training, danced with our Wings Team from Japan, attended the Yukon Pancake breakfast, Midwest City Shrimp Boil, had a picture with the Easter Bunny supporting NWOKC, had a great time with the Rotary Cub of Edmond, the Rotary Club of Oklahoma City, NWOKC, Guthrie, Mustang and Geary clubs. I laughed so hard with the Bricktown Rotarians I could hardly get through my talk. Additionally, I caught up with great friends from throughout the years in Weatherford and have sweet memories being your district governor.
I have Chandler, Perry, and Pawhuska coming up!
Now, let's celebrate May 19th and pass the gavel and ring the gong to our new district and club leadership teams.
After nearly three years of postponement, the WINGS program is back in full swing again! Jin Soto, the leader representing Japan's Rotary District 2520, accompanied 7 high school students to travel across the globe to Oklahoma.

We have the opportunity this next Rotary year to gear up for greatness in our youth exchange programming. We are asking you, as Rotarians and Rotary leaders, to consider what role you and/or your club can play in youth exchange.
Come enjoy a variety of wines and some of the most popular snacks from local area restaurants at our annual Days of Wine & Rotary fundraiser on April 21st. Go home with some great door prizes, wine pull wins, or go BIG GIVER with something special with our live auction offerings.
This annual fundraiser is Bricktown Rotary's primary event that helps us fund what the club does in the community throughout the year.
Sadly, there has been no shortage of tragic news related to extreme hardship for people in disaster areas. From ongoing refugee tragedies related to the conflict in Ukraine and Syria to natural disasters of drought, flooding, and earthquakes in Somalia, Pakistan, and Turkey. Club 29, through the Rotary Club 29 Foundation, consistently strives to impact lives in these disaster areas.
At the March 7th meeting of Club 29, President Wes Milbourn took some time to share a bit about the many women who have helped to shape Rotary International and Club 29. He even shared a special story about the butterfly pin shown in this picture.

Not long ago, someone at an Edmond grocery store discovered a five-dollar bill behind a can of vegetables. A business card accompanied it with a message: “Rotary Loves Edmond – This act of kindness brought to you by Rotary Club of Edmond – Service Above Self.”
