Greeting Rotarians!

I am full of hope, enthusiasm, and optimism after visiting 24 out of our 34 clubs. Our club Presidents are doing amazing service projects with their club members, helping make their communities, districts, and the world a better place for us all to live.

In fact, I find having a Rotary Club in your town is where people are going, to seek help. They know they will find a welcoming environment from Rotarians that will do whatever they can to lend a helping hand. And that is why I love being a Rotarian!

DGE Jeanean, DGN Jack, Past District Governor Angela, Past District Governor and Treasurer Lance, plus many
more Rotarians, just returned from Zone 30/31 Training and Conference “Pathways to the Future” in Chattanooga, TN. It was an invigorating conference and renewed our energy and motivation to help
District 5750 continue to strive for the next several years and beyond. As one of the Rotary International
speakers stated, “there may or may not be more beautiful times, but this is our time” right now in
2022-2023. Moreover, “We in Rotary have a great future if we realize it is 2022 and life is different than
50 or 100 years ago.”

Therefore, make decisions for your clubs that suits and fits our time. Let us focus more on the engagement of our members. As strongly emphasized, “Our attraction rate has to excel the attrition rate in our clubs.”

Congratulations to all who were involved in getting RYLA Camp off to a great start! I had the honor
of addressing the campers and wishing them fun and fellowship with their leadership training.

Lastly, please remember Rotarians light up our world with love. “Love is hope and hope is seeing light under
the darkness.” Desmund Tutu

In Rotary Service,

Deena Fisher
District Governor 2022-2023

Youth Exchange Training & Tips
South Central Rotary Youth Exchange is scheduled to hold a club-level training this Thursday, October 27th at 7PM CST via Zoom. Please let all of your club-level people know. It has been a few years since we have had students and thought that a refresher training might be of help.

Additionally, did you know that you can help young people become global citizens, whether or not you hold a club or district leadership role, and even whether or not you’re a Rotary member? With in-person exchanges resuming after two years, Rotary Youth Exchange needs your involvement now more than ever.
Wings of Rotary Needs Your Help
District 5750 is now preparing to complete our first Wings of Rotary Exchange since 2019 and we need your help! From student applications to host families and Rotarian leaders, learn more about how you can help us welcome this District favorite program back to Oklahoma this spring!
IRS Annual Filing Reminder
Your Club and District Support (CDS) team is contacting you to remind you of the IRS’ annual filing requirement for all Rotary clubs in the U.S. and U.S. territories.

Whether your club is a subordinate under Rotary International’s 501(c)(4) group exemption or is independently tax-exempt, the IRS requires that all Rotary clubs in the U.S. and its territories file an annual information return. For those clubs whose tax year follows the Rotary year, the deadline to file is 15 November.
Joint District Grant Completed
On Friday October 14th, Alfonso Nieves, President of South OKC Rotary Club, presented the Ropes Course Grant for $13,342.00 to Where Promises Happen.  The grant provided a zipline, harnesses, carabiners and other ropes course equipment to complement the Rotary built tower and storage. Northwest OKC Rotary contributed $1,000, Midwest City Rotary contributed $1,500 and SOKC Rotary contributed $1,942.00, and our district contributed $8,900.00 in total.

Imagine RYLA+ 2022
RYLA was held October 10-16 at Camp Walk On Water (WOW) in Stuart, OK. Around 40 new and returning students logged on the evenings of October 10-12 to a warm welcome from DG Deena, then spent their time building camaraderie with their teams and focusing on building their skills to lead in an online environment before arriving at Camp WOW for 3 days of in-person fun!
