Books from Edmond Summit Rotary Club were recently delivered by member Julie Hovis (left) to librarian Sara Shackford (right) and her library aide at Charles Haskell Elementary. Edmond Summit donates the books on an ongoing basis to an Edmond public school, each with the name of a weekly Edmond Summit speaker on the inside cover. Shackford has received several Edmond Summit donated books at Haskell in recent years.

Loren Stein visited Edmond Summit and discussed the role of the Oklahoma Reserve Medical Corps during the Covid pandemic. She is the first-ever recipient of the Marci Widmann Spirit of OKMRC Award winner as a unit and statewide leader in the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps since 2004. Since 2007, she has been the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps Education Coordinator. She explained to the club that Oklahoma has more presidentially declared disasters per capita than any other state. During these disasters, Loren was deployed as a volunteer. During these deployments, she met other outstanding licensed professionals volunteering their time and providing services. She leads the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps Stress Response Team, a nationally accredited unit of the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps. The team received a Certificate of Recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for contribution during the 2015 Oklahoma tornados and was a leader during statewide Covid vaccinations in 2021.
