EOC Rotary Club has been reading to Pre-K students in Choctaw-Nicoma Park, Harrah, Jones, and Luther school districts each month. The program started around 2005 with just two classes and we have slowly expanded to all Pre-K students. When a Rotarian, or guest, reads to the students they then get to take that book home with them to keep. It does not matter if the student has many books at home or none, they are extremely excited to get a book each month of the school year.
This year we have enlisted the help of the Harrah High School National Honor Students to help read to the Pre-K in Harrah School District. Both the High School students and the Pre-K’s love the interaction. The Honor students commented that they remember receiving the Dictionary that our club gave them as a Third-grade student.
