On Friday October 14th, Alfonso Nieves, President of South OKC Rotary Club, presented the Ropes Course Grant for $13,342.00 to Where Promises Happen. The grant provided a zipline, harnesses, carabiners and other ropes course equipment to complement the Rotary built tower and storage. Northwest OKC Rotary contributed $1,000, Midwest City Rotary contributed $1,500 and SOKC Rotary contributed $1,942.00. Our district contributed $8,900.00 in total. All will go to Central Camp of Oklahoma for the only accessible ropes course in Oklahoma!! The participating group met at the Grill on the Hill for lunch and then drove to the Central Oklahoma Camp and Conference Center at 1 Twin Cedar Lane, Guthrie, OK 73044. At 2:00 PM, the group toured the ropes site in Guthrie and were present when the Grant Check was presented by President Alfonso Nieves to John Cunningham of Where Promises Happen. Ms. Emily Stone rode the zip line to demonstrate how it worked.
