In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community. Mr. Brian Stewart’s desire to pursue a career in education was supported by his family, allowing him to provide hands-on courses focused on vocational skills and career options for all students.
Brian Stewart began his teaching career 31 years ago as a Vocational Instructor at Job Corps in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Mr. Stewart currently teaches Technology Engineering at Putnam City West in the STEM department of OK Career Tech, co-sponsors several student organizations such as the Multicultural Society and the Technology Student Association, and serves as the Practical Arts Department Chair. He is the first male African American teacher at Putnam City West, specializing in Industrial Arts for the past 28 years.
Brian is a charter member of Putnam City Schools’ Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion committee and serves on the STEM advisory board.
Mr. Stewart graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, then continued his pursuit of higher education and received his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education and a Master’s degree in TESL/Bilingual Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.
