In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community. Delois Byrd received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Cameron University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction through Western Governors University in 2018. Delois has taught as a classroom teacher for ten years, teaching 2nd through 5th grade for Lawton Public Schools and Oklahoma City Public Schools. She has taught elementary special education for the past five years and currently serves on Putnam City Schools’ Student Experience and Equity Council. Delois was named Putnam City Schools Teacher of the Year in 2022. She feels strongly that building positive relationships with students is the most important part of her job.
