Wings of Rotary District 5750 short-term exchange with District 2520
WANTED: Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school.
Requisites: Open to a growth opportunity with fun and education in a different culture. Live and attend school within our Rotary District 5750. This program is designed for any high school student but applicants related to a Rotarian are welcome to apply. The trip will be for two weeks in June, 2023, dates TBD. Applications are available at Rotary5750.org under the Committee tab, due by December 1, 2022.
WANTED: Host Clubs in March, 2023
Requisites: Clubs to provide a daily schedule of activities for the incoming Japanese students and the outbound Oklahoma students who can join them. Expect one to three days of activities. Work with clubs hosting before and after to transfer students. Activities will include our outbound students who are available. Dates TBD. Please respond to Keith Oehlert, kboehlert@gmail.com
WANTED: Host Families in March, 2023
Requisites: Families able to host two students. Being a Rotarian is not required. Welcome our incoming Japanese high school students into your home for 2-3 nights. Give them breakfast and take them to the activities of the day provided by Rotary clubs. Evenings may or may not include group dinners. Preference for being a host family will go to families of outbound Wings of Rotary students that they may further the four-way test, building friendships. Dates TBD. Please notify your club of your intention.
WANTED: Team Leader applications.
Rotarian applicants interested in leading a team of high school students to Japan on a two-week trip to Japan’s District 2520. (We have trained team leaders for June of
2023—Jessica and Jay Sherrill who were scheduled to lead the team in 2020 when the trip canceled due to Covid.) District 5750 sends two team leaders. Of the two leaders, one may be a non-Rotarian.
Requisites: District 5750 Rotarian in good standing. Experience with Rotary youth programs. Assist in training the outbound team, three or four meetings in 2023 before the team goes in June. Accept responsibility for Oklahoma outbound students. Learn the customs and culture of Japan and courtesy phrases in Japanese.
