This youth exchange program was started in 1976 with the first group arriving in Oklahoma from Japan in 1977. It has been interrupted only twice, once by the Great Tsunami of 2011 and the other by Covid which suspended all youth exchange.
District 5750 had the honor of hosting the Inbound Wings of Rotary team from Japan this month. The Wings of Rotary Hoedown was a success. Thank you to all who made it happen. Click here to view the photo album.
Rotarian Jin Sato brought students from the Miyagi and Iwate prefectures in Japan. The students names are: Rui Aoki, Sawa Narita, Ichiro Sugawara, Mirina Kiswara, Toki Chiba, Tomohiro Tanaka, Momoka Saito, and Azusa Nunomiya.
This summer, the Wings of Rotary Outbound Team 2024 students listed below will be accompanied by Rotarians Ken and Sally Newey of the Rotary Club of Midwest City. They will travel to Rotary District 2520 in Japan in June and experience the hospitality of homestays.
Outbound Students are: Sara Gonzalez, Yukon, Skyler Hubbard, Midwest City, Kyle Jackson, Enid, Aspen Keller, Edmond, Madelyn Ledford, Chandler, Oliver Pierce, Oklahoma City, Avery Sterling, Yukon, and Mady Wright, Midwest City.
The Ponca City Rotary Club in the support of Wings of Rotary ‘23-’24, challenges each club in District 5750 to match its $100.00 donation to support our outbound students traveling to Japan this June.
