Dear Rotary District 5750 Members,

Thank you for all you are doing to Create Hope in Oklahoma!

On the Road
Since the start of this summer as your District Governor, I’ve traveled approximately 3,500 miles and made 45 appearances in our wonderful district. It has been a privilege to meet and connect with so many dedicated Rotarians like you during this journey.

World Polio Day is Tuesday, Oct. 24!
What are your clubs doing to celebrate, fundraise and bring awareness to the great work Rotarians have done to almost eradicate Polio?  Would you please email me your activities to include in a District-wide announcement?  You can also register your events at www.endpolio.org

Polio Plus Society
Did you know you can be a Polio Plus Society member for $100 a year?  Click here for the link to sign up today!

Rotary Haunt the Zoo End Polio Now Event – Sat., Oct. 28
In the spirit of our District’s commitment to eradicating Polio, we are excited to announce our upcoming Rotary Haunt the Zoo End Polio Now Event at the Oklahoma City Zoo on Saturday, Oct. 28. Costumes are optional, but you may see some pretty fun Polio awareness costumes including our End Polio Bear!

Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against polio. I encourage clubs to actively participate and share their events related to this crucial cause. By working together, we can amplify our efforts district-wide.

Holiday Membership Appreciation and Attraction Event
Mark your calendars for a special event on the horizon – Rotary District Zoofari Light Night on Saturday, December 16! This event is designed not only for our valued members but also for prospective members who are interested in joining our Rotary family. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting opportunity to connect and engage with fellow Rotarians.

District Governor Nominations
We are calling for nominations for our future District Governor Nominee.  An email will be sent to Club Presidents soon.  Please contact Immediate Past District Governor Dr. Deena Fisher for more information at d.k.fisher@sbcbglobal.net.  To learn more about the qualifications and access the forms, click here.

Supporting Others
In the past month Rotary District 717 gave $500 towards the relief efforts due to the Maui fires.  We also had the opportunity to support a new film called "Join or Die" that shows the value of membership.

Thank you for your dedication to Rotary’s mission, and let’s continue to make a positive difference in our communities and the world.

Yours in Rotary service,

Jeanean
District Governor, Rotary District 5750
August 2023 Teacher of the Month
Faisal Madni - Physical Education teacher Wheeler Middle School

In cooperation with the Mayor's office and City Council, the Rotary Club of Okla. City recognizes an outstanding teacher in our community.
Ponca City Rotary Ribbon Cutting
Ponca City Rotary has had an exciting few weeks.  On August 28th we dedicated the Rotary Garden at the Golden Villa Adult Day Care Center.  This was a district grant project that was started pre-COVID.  Four years and 5 presidents later, it's finished.  It was a big project and we are so thankful for the district grant that made it possible.
Yukon Rotary - Making Connections
We enjoyed a visit from District Governor Jeanean Jones last week, and we learned that she had an interesting connection with our Rotarian Leon Corn.
Scissortail Elementary and Community to Enjoy New Playground Improvements
EDMOND, Okla – When temperatures started reaching the one hundred degree mark this summer, the new playground at Scissortail Elementary School in Edmond laid bare to the scorching elements. There was no shade and no place to sit until new metal picnic tables arrived. Plans were to nurture a new educational garden but the only way to water it was for students to use their own water bottles. Relief has now arrived – thanks to a grant funded by Rotary District 5750 and monies provided by Edmond Rotary Club and Foundation.
Join us on October 7th for the annual RYLA Chili Cookoff!  This is your chance to meet the RYLA campers and fellow Rotarians while participating in a friendly cooking competition.

The event kicks off at about 6:00 pm, but you'll need to show up early to make sure your chili is warm and set up.  Bring your own crock pot or hot plate.

Contact Midtown Rotary's Matt Murphy with questions.

Rotary Night at Louie's on the Lake
We enjoyed great music, great friends and raised $500 to help the relief efforts due to Maui fires.

Thank you Kassandra Segura / LeoVenus Photography for capturing the fun!

Greetings from Rotary! We are contacting you today with a reminder regarding the IRS annual filing requirement for all Rotary clubs in the U.S. and U.S. territories.

Note:

Clubs who already completed the requirement this year can disregard this message.

Whether your club is a subordinate under Rotary International’s 501(c)(4) group exemption or is independently tax-exempt, the IRS requires that all Rotary clubs in the U.S. and its territories file an annual information return. For clubs whose tax year follows the Rotary year, the deadline to file is 15 November. The form a club must file is dependent upon its gross receipts for the year. For more information, please see Frequently asked questions about annual reporting requirements for exempt organizations at www.irs.gov

It is important that your club comply with IRS requirements. Please note Section 6033(j) of the Internal Revenue Code automatically revokes the exemption of any organization that fails to satisfy its filing requirement for three consecutive years

Our document, US Rotary and Rotaract Clubs and the IRS: Frequently Asked Questions, provides general information about Rotary clubs and the IRS. For specific questions regarding your club’s tax-exempt status, reporting requirements, or your club’s ability to file, contact local counsel, your tax adviser, or the IRS directly at www.irs.gov or 877-829-5500.

Thank you for your attention to this important reminder.

Sincerely,

Your District and Club Support Team

Our Rotary International President is focused on mental health initiatives.  Are you interested in joining the cause by participating in a Mental Health Initiative in our district?

Email DG Jeanean Jones to let her know you are ready to sign up.
