The Vacant Club

I have visited Rotary Clubs in multiple states and around our district, for many years. It has surprised me how many times I have experienced no meetings and no NOTICE. Most of the time Rotary was doing a project off site but no information was posted.

In Wimberley, Texas, I went to the EMS Center where Rotary meets (a very nice meeting room) and the Superintendent of Schools showed up wanting to join Rotary. Nothing was posted and thirty minutes of phoning couldn’t track down where the project was taking place. Alva, Okla, Gage, North OKC Rotary…..I have “attended” all of these clubs when they WERE NOT meeting or at least not meeting on site.

Please, consider, at a minimum, posting a LARGE TYPED notice saying you are not meeting here today and where you are meeting. Also, please let Amy Hollas know if you don’t meet on the fifth Wednesday or now you only meet the first and third Thursday, etc

I close with this: Have you ever been in a hotel or department store and asked where to find……?  Were you pleased and impressed like I was, when the staff member said, “Let me take you there.”?

Just a thought, wouldn’t it be gracious on those days that our meeting is moved, if a Rotarian volunteered to stay on the original site from ten minutes before and after the scheduled meeting time, just to greet those unexpected visitors?
Think about what you might be willing to do.

Thank you.

Jack Werner, DG

Ponca City Trailblazers Rotary Club: A Busy Start to the Year

The Ponca City Trailblazers Rotary Club kicked off the Rotary year with a flurry of activity. In July, members took part in a lake cleanup after the 4th of July celebrations, helping to keep the community beautiful.

On August 3rd, the club hosted the Lemonade Stand Project for the first time, a tradition handed over by Ponca City Main Street. The event, which coincided with Crazy Days, encouraged young entrepreneurs to set up lemonade stands downtown. With 12 stands registered, the kids were all smiles as they worked hard, many pledging their earnings to charity or to fund their sports activities. The Trailblazers enjoyed supporting the kids and are eager to do it again next year.

CUSHING IN CRISIS: Local Rotary Club gathers donations after water plant issues
I would like to take a couple minutes of your time to share with you the recent activities of a fellow Rotarian in Cushing, who took action when her community needed it most and galvanized not only her own Rotary Club, but Rotary Clubs across northeast Oklahoma.
Rotary Spark Podcast
We are excited to announce an opportunity for members of District 5750 to showcase their Rotary experiences and insights on our upcoming podcast series. Why Participate?
- Share your Rotary journey and inspire others.
- Highlight the achievements and initiatives of your club.
- Connect with fellow Rotarians and expand your network.

How to Get Involved:

Nominate Yourself or a Fellow Rotarian: Simply send an email to bt@oklahomasystemsgroup.com with your name, your club, and a brief description of your Rotary involvement. You can also nominate another Rotarian who you believe would be a great fit.

Interview Details: Once selected, we will coordinate a convenient time for the interview, which will be conducted to accommodate everyone's schedules.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and showcasing the remarkable stories within our district.
Shelter Box
As ShelterBox approaches our 25th year in global disaster relief, we would like to invite you and all club members and associates in District 5750 to our “ShelterBox All-Hands Rotary Roundup”, on Wednesday August 28th at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET via Zoom.

This 30-minute session will focus on the power of our partnership with Rotary and will feature ShelterBox USA President, Kerri Murray, a member of the Rotary Club of Montecito, Ca. and ShelterBox Response Team member, Brian Glenn, from the Rotary Club of Denton-Lake Cities, Texas.

Kerri and Brian will outline how Rotarians fill integral roles throughout the disaster response process. They will focus on the collaborative efforts of ShelterBox and Rotary in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Morocco. There will also be updates on our disaster relief efforts in the Caribbean and elsewhere.

From fundraising and networking to field support, our mission relies heavily on the dedication of Rotary members from all over the world. We hope you will join us to learn about the partnership and how you can be involved.

Unable to attend? Register anyway and after the event you will receive a link to the recording.

Thank you,

Bill Tobin

IN PERSON RYLA IS RETURNING IN 2025
If the newsletter has not gone yet can you add a blurb to the RYLA part saying that Bridget Markwood, the RYLA Camp Director will be on hand to tell us the exciting news for RYLA 2025. Clubs are encouraged to send their RYLA Chairperson to this Training.

IN PERSON RYLA IS RETURNING IN 2025

Full in person RYLA is back. Bridget Markwood, RYLA Camp Director, and her team will be managing the Camp, just like years past.

While we are still locking down the exact dates, we are estimating campers dates of July 17 - July 20 with staff and set up on July 16.

There will be a club chili challenge!

We plan to have full details available at the Training in Enid September 28th. Bridget will be on hand to tell us the exciting news for RYLA 2025. Clubs are encouraged to send their RYLA Chairperson to this Training.

We would appreciate it if Clubs would meet before the training and determine how many campers they plan to sponsor assuming the cost will again be between $475 and $500. We don’t yet have the information yet to fix the exact cost.
