The Bricktown Rotary Club hosted a brand new fundraiser this year. The 1st Annual Bricktown Rotary Hit-a-Thon took place on September 14 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
The Hit-a-Thon was held at Ted Reynolds Park on the NW Corner of May & Reno in Oklahoma City. Each participant hit five fair-ball softballs with the distance of their furthest hit recorded at it's final resting place. Every single participant hit the ball! Counting donations and "per foot" pledges, the club raised $14,742.00. We do expect a couple of slower-moving donations to arrive shortly, pushing the club's proceeds over $15,000. With just 45 days from the start of the fundraiser to the Hit-a-Thon day itself, the club put the fundraiser together on an accelerated schedule. In 2023, we hope to improve on the total amount raised with a longer preparation & fundraising period. We're unaware of any other Rotary club ever having held a Hit-a-Thon as a fundraiser... we may have been the first to try it!
