The Rotary Club of Enid joined the Enid Public School Foundation in helping hand out grants to Enid public school teachers for special/creative projects. The teachers receiving grants and holding certificates are from left: Charla Harris, Beverly Fagan, Toni Webb, Jamie Aguilar and Nikki Wadkins. The grants come from money Rotarians donated to an endowment that annually funds such awards through the EPSF.
Our sympathy to the family of Leonard Northcutt, a 57-year Enid Rotary Club member who died today, April 11, at age 83. As the longtime owner of Northcutt Auto Group, Leonard was an influential and community-focused businessman. A significant part of his civic involvement was through Rotary. He joined the Enid club in 1965 and was president in 1994-95.Leonard was recognized for his volunteer leadership as a Pillar of the Plains honoree in 2016. The Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce honored him as Business Person of the Year in 1995, and in 2013 gave him the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award. Leonard also was president and fundraising campaign chair for the United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma. He also served as chairman of Enid Development Coalition and president of Denny Price Family YMCA.
Education was often a focus of Leonard’s contributions of time and money. He was instrumental in founding Emmanuel Christian School and served as its first board president. Leonard served as president of the Enid-Phillips Partnership Drive in 1978. He also helped promote a $99 million bond issue for Enid Public Schools in 2010, leading to the construction Prairie View and the new Garfield elementary schools. Professionally, Leonard served as a director and chairman of Oklahoma Motor Vehicle Commission.
