Due to the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Enid’s big Festival of Flavor fund-raiser could not go on as usual this year. Normally, the annual event features food samples from about 20 Enid restaurants, all served up in a local elementary school gymnasium for diners to select and then eat in an adjacent school cafeteria, prepped for the occasion. But 2020-2021 has been so not normal. Local restaurants have suffered through the loss of diners and COVID restrictions. So, this year, the Rotary Club of Enid dreamed up a virtual Festival of Flavor that would help local restaurants plus raise funds for the club to donate to local non-profits plus Rotary International. Club fund-raising chair Jennifer Bauman signed up 13 local restaurants to offer discounts of 10% or 20%, then printed Festival of Flavor cards listing those restaurants. The cards were sold for $25 each, allowing purchasers to obtain the discounts and dine in or carry out as desired. The discounts are valid through June 30, 2022.
The promotion is expected to generate more than $13,000 for the Rotary Club of Enid.
