Wade Burleson, lead pastor at Emmanuel Enid, tells about the church’s Pacific Island Ministry, led by Pastor Yohanes Arwakon, center. The ministry serves the Pacific Islanders in Enid in a variety of ways, with most activities and services at the Pacific Island Ministry building, 1203 S. Third St. Help is offered in CNA training, driver’s education, English and healthy living courses. Local medical professionals also partner with this ministry to provide health services, including COVID-19 vaccinations. Enid Rotary Club donated $403.50, collected through drawings over the last 13 weeks, to support the ministry. Presenting the check to Pastor Yohanes is Enid Rotary Club President Jeffery Herbel, at left. The building at 1203 S. Third also is used frequently by Enid Marshallese families for life events such as birthday celebrations, weddings, funeral tributes and social gatherings. Enid is host to the second-largest concentration of Marshallese population in the continental United States. The check presentation was July 12.
