February Teacher of the MonthLisa Pitts is currently a fifth grade Science and STEM teacher at Oakdale Middle School, and has dedicated nearly 3 decades of her life to educating, encouraging, and inspiring children to endeavor to be future innovators, scientists and leaders. In 2021, she was named state finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, and in 2019 she was named Devon Energy STEM Teacher of the Game.
Lisa has helped write the Okla. State Department of Education's 2020 Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science Framework. She has been an instructor for Kids College at Rose State.
In addition, Lisa was named an Oklahoma Excel Improvement Fellow and is a Teacher Influencer for the National Air and Space Teacher Innovator Institute, serves as the Elementary Director for the Oklahoma Science Teaching Association and is a participant in the Central Okla. Regional STEM Alliance. She has been the Junior Botball Challenge Robotics Coach since 2013, and was a state finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year in 2016.
