Announcing Pre-registration for the 2024 District Conference at the
Only Six Diamond Resort in Oklahoma

The District Governors from 5750, 5830 and 5770 recently came to Durant to have a planning meeting for our joint District Conference. We are excited to be able to hold the Conference together. We are planning a time of fun, food, and fellowship.

Friday Evening Fish Fry
We will have Live Music at our reception on Friday night at Lost Street Brewery in downtown Durant. We'll have a 10,000 sq ft warehouse all to ourselves. We'll have a fish fry and play corn hole. We'll have tables set up for board games, dominoes or card games. You might even want to get out on the dance floor!

Hotel Room Blocks
We were able to get the deadline extended for signing a contract with the Choctaw Resort. I need an approximate room count by Dec 31, 2023. This does not lock you in if you tell me you want to reserve a room. I know this is early and things may change before April. I don't want to book too many rooms or too few rooms. I would like to get as close to an actual number as possible. Please remember, we need to reserve 80% of the rooms I sign a contract for. I can add rooms after the contract is signed but, we may not get the same rate. I can't remove rooms after the contract is signed. If we reserve less than 80% of the contracted rooms, the District must pay for those rooms.

Please complete this google form to let us know where you are interested in booking a room and how many nights you plan to stay.

You can see the cost for each location on the form.  Hotel reservations will open up at the beginning of January 2024.

When you register, you can also let us know which events you are planning to attend and any dietary restrictions we can accommodate.  You have the option to attend the full conference or just the Foundation Dinner.  You can also add-on a Friday night fish fry.

I am looking forward to a great time at our "Hope in the Heartland" Conference!

In Your Service,

Jeanean

In addition to this, ShelterBox will be responding in Gaza. The situation is complex, but we are committed to responding as soon as possible. Almost 1.9 million people, more than 85% of the population in Gaza, have been displaced across the Gaza Strip since October. We are developing plans to work with a partner organization, with a presence in Gaza, to provide essential and lifesaving support to those who need it.

The sheer amount of humanitarian aid needed to avoid further suffering and loss of life cannot be underestimated. Essential supplies like water, food, and medical supplies are desperately needed and being prioritized for entry. However, getting aid to the people who need it is extremely challenging. Nowhere in Gaza is safe. Evacuation routes are blocked.  The passage of aid into Gaza is slow and unpredictable. People in Gaza were reliant on humanitarian aid before the escalation in violence. The current volume of aid crossing into Gaza is fraction of what’s needed.

Hundreds of thousands of people are sheltering in designated shelters like schools. Thousands more people are on the move, desperately trying to keep themselves and their families safe, but airstrikes and a ground offensive are making that near impossible.

This is a humanitarian crisis and ordinary people will continue to suffer with homes, lives, and livelihoods lost. An immediate humanitarian cease-fire is needed. Guarantees must be given to allow critical supplies to get to those whose homes have been destroyed. We stand with the UN in calling for peace and the protection of civilians.

At this time, we are not adding a designated fund for Gaza. The capacity of our work everywhere depends on the generosity of our donors and our ability to remain flexible with the revenue they provide. We may be able to direct DDF and club or district grants towards a specific project, please reach out to me for more information.

Thank you and have a safe and happy holiday.
