District 5750 News

My Fellow Rotarians!
I must report to you that I am amazed, gratified, and inspired by our Rotarians - true Rotarians - that believe and follow the philosophy that binds us all together in our clubs!
We are strong Rotarians in District 5750. Our numbers are 1,680 strong and we are building back from our long stretch of COVID passivity. To all who are helping retain and grow our members, I thank you. You motivate me and your fellow Rotarians.
My absolute thanks to DGN Jack Werner for his dedication in bring back our Rotary Leadership Institute. We had a very successful first session and look forward to the second February 25th session. Please join us in fellowship, fun, and service... whether a shrimp boil, adult spelling bee with beer, Valentine dinner, steak dinner, or local club social and service. Just get involved in Rotary fund and fellowship!
Since our last newsletter, I attended our Past District Governors dinner. What a great time! I loved hearing the stories of their year of service. In addition, I had a great time with the hospitality of East OK County Rotary. What fun with them.
It was also heartwarming meeting with our Wings of Rotary students at PDG Jessica Sherrill's home and listening to Keith Oehlert explain the logistics of their upcoming trip to Japan.
Last month, I talked about connections that bind us together as a club. This moth I saw further evidence of this connectivity in action. First at the Gage Club where I learned they were sponsored in 1948 by the Alva Club. I then found myself in Alva where we celebrated their 100th anniversary. They were chartered on April 26, 1923 and were sponsored by the Enid Club. The Gage club sponsored the Woodward Rotary Club... Connections everywhere. I hope we all think about sponsoring new Rotary clubs as we continue to rebuild.
Please place May 19th on your calendar from 5-9 pm for our District celebration. I intend to honor all 31 Rotary clubs and your impact.
I wish to leave you with the statement from Bob Reneau from the Alva Club. He has passed on but his words still resonate today, “The future of Rotary in Alva will be determined by the club’s leadership. Dedication to Rotary principals and ideals filter down from leadership to club membership. A strong club supports the values of Rotary International, and that’s what makes it Rotary.”
