Dear District 5750 Rotarians,

Spring is in the Air!  We have added to our District Governor Line with the selection of Mr. Michael Trewitt joining our leadership team!  Mid-America President Elect Training is this weekend as we equip, inspire and motivate the next year’s leaders.  I am especially excited about our Tri-District Conference in April!  Our District Governor Team with Immediate Past District Governor Deena Fisher, District Governor Elect Jack Werner, District Governor Nominee Mukesh “Mack” Patel, and following DGN Mack, is Michael Trewitt.  Our District is in great hands!

If you haven’t already, please make plans to attend the District Conference and Foundation Dinner from April 26-28!  You can register for the District Conference on the District website:

Service Project Opportunity:
We are planning a service project for Friday afternoon, April 26th, before our Conference reception. A few years ago the Durant Rotary Club used a District grant to place raised garden beds at the Ron Cross Senior Citizens Center. It will be time to plant the gardens at the Center in April. If any of you gardeners would like to help accomplish the task, or anyone who just likes to dig in the dirt, please let 5770 District Governor Patty Swink know at pattyswink@yahoo.com. We'll have plants and tools available.

Friday Activities Information:

Guided Fishing on Lake Texoma: kelsey@willowspringsmarina.com for information and reservations

Lunch at Blake Shelton's Ole Red: No reservations required. There will be live music during the lunch hour. 214 W Main St, Tishomingo, OK

Lunch at Reba's: We will be making reservations for groups of ten. If we make reservations for more than eleven, we have to go to the group menu. Small groups are able to order off the menu. There will be live music during the lunch time. 301 E Court St, Atoka, OK

If you are touring the Choctaw Headquarters, they have a wonderful cafeteria where you can have lunch. There is a cafe at the Choctaw Cultural Center where you can get Native American food. Try the grape dumplings with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Friday Evening Fish Fry
We will have super fun, live dance music by REMIX from District 5750 at our reception on Friday night at Lost Street Brewery in downtown Durant. We'll have a 10,000 sq ft warehouse all to ourselves. We'll have a fish fry and play corn hole. We'll have tables set up for board games, dominoes or card games. You might even want to get out on the dance floor!  We have school buses available to bring attendees back and forth from the Choctaw Resort as there is limited parking at the Lost Brewery.  You can also Uber/Lyft.

Deadline for District Conference / Foundation Dinner is April 12. Food service must know how much food to order.

There is an amazing line up for speakers!  I’m especially excited about Dr. Jennifer Hays-Grudo from Oklahoma State University who has an incredible message of Resilience and work she is doing with Oklahoma tribes.

We will have the honor of having a Presidential Representative as our guest at the District Conference. Robert Hall and his wife Charlene will be joining us. They are from Georgia. Not very many conferences are sent a Representative by Rotary International!

The Choctaw Resort has blocked 150 rooms for our Multi-District Conference. There are rooms still available there as well as the Holiday Inn and Quality Inn. If you need a link for Holiday Inn, please contact Amy Hollas our District Administrator at rotary5750@gmail.com.

We will have a Hall of Friendship set up at the conference. If your club would like to set up a table display for your club, please let me know so that I can have a table for your club.

We will have a printed program. If you would like to advertise or be a sponsor for the Conference and Foundation Dinner, we will publish your ad in the program. Click here for a link to the sponsorship levels.

The agenda will be finalized for the Conference and Foundation Dinner soon. In the mean time, if you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

We are excited to invite you to join us for "Hope in the Heartland!' The $150 registration fee is covered by the District and includes the Foundation Dinner. The Friday night Reception is a separate fee of $30. We'll have a fish fry and play cornhole. If you need a special diet, please let me know and I will make accommodations for you.

Yours In Rotary,

Jeanean Jones
